MPC Features Overview

This topic provides a brief overview of the major analysis, data management and reporting capabilities provided by MPC.

You can also review an introduction to the Synthesis Platform and a list of what's new in MPC Version 9.

Introduction to MPC

ReliaSoft's MPC software is an MSG-3 compliant maintenance program creator for the aircraft / aerospace industry. The software has been designed to assist MPC-3 working groups to accurately and efficiently complete risk and maintenance planning analysis in accordance with the guidelines of the "MGS-3: Operator/Manufacturer Scheduled Maintenance Development" publication. MPC is now available in two versions:

Systems and Powerplant Analysis

From the identification of maintenance significant items (MSIs) to the generation of the final report document, MPC guides you through the entire MSG-3 process for aircraft systems and powerplant analysis. In Version 9, this functionality is now more flexible and user-friendly.

Identify Maintenance Significant Items (MSIs)

The intuitive hierarchical structure makes it easy to define and manage the system configuration you wish to analyze. For systems and subsystems, you can select from the complete list of ATA chapters and sections defined in iSpec 2200: Aircraft Systems. Then you have the flexibility to define your sub-subsystems and parts.

MPC provides built-in logic to help you identify maintenance significant items (MSIs) and flag them for more detailed analysis.

Functional Failure Analysis (F-F-E-C)

For each MSI, you can easily define the related functions, failures, effects and causes in a intuitive hierarchy that is easier to navigate and more flexible than ever before. You also have the option to import this data from Microsoft Excel® worksheets, if desired.

Categorizing Effects and Selecting Maintenance Tasks

MPC includes built-in logic diagrams to help the team determine and record the failure effect category (FEC) and select the scheduled maintenance tasks that will be applicable and effective. This includes integrated features to alert the analysis team when analysis information may be missing or inconsistent.

Structural Analysis

With MPC Plus, the software now also supports aircraft structural analysis to assist the team in identifying and recommending the appropriate structural inspection tasks.

Identify Structural Significant Items (SSIs)

Once again, you can utilize the ATA chapters and sections from iSpec 2200: Aircraft Systems to select the structures and substructures, and then easily define your own sub-substructures and structural items. Then the SSI selection questions will help to identify and flag the structural items that require more detailed analysis.

Environmental Deterioration and Accidental Damage Analyses

For each SSI, MPC provides rating systems that help the team to evaluate the potential risk to the structure from environmental deterioration (ED) and/or accidental damage (AD). These ratings are configurable by authorized users, and have been designed to consider the different factors that may affect metallic vs. non-metallic materials.

Zonal and L/HIRF Analysis

With MPC Plus, the software now also supports zonal and lightning/high intensity radiation field (L/HIRF) analysis. For major zones and major sub-zone, you can select from the complete list of major zones and major sub-zones defined in iSpec 2200: Aircraft Systems. After you have defined the zones you wish to analyze, MPC provides built-in logic to help you determine which analyses are recommended for each zone. All three of the following rating systems are configurable by authorized users:

Standard Zonal Analysis and Enhanced Zonal Analysis

The standard zonal analysis considers the density of the equipment in the zone, the likelihood of accidental damage and the likelihood of environmental deterioration. The enhanced zonal analysis also considers the potential effects of fire caused by wiring failure.

L/HIRF Analysis

The L/HIRF rating system evaluates all of the L/HIRF protection systems (such as shielded wires, raceways, bonding jumpers, inherent conductivity of the structure, RF gaskets, etc.) in terms of their susceptibility to degradation from environmental deterioration or accidental damage. You can also define the systems that will help to avoid, eliminate or reduce the consequences of a lightning/high intensity radiated field (L/HIRF) event.

Defining the Applicable Maintenance Tasks

For each type of MSG-3 analysis, MPC provides the tools you need to define the recommended maintenance properties (task interval, etc.) and generate a report of the overall scheduled maintenance plan.

In MPC Plus, you also have the option to compile a list of all zonal inspection program (ZIP) candidate tasks that were identified in any of the separate analysis efforts.

Automatic Report Generation

For each type of MSG-3 analysis, MPC provides a comprehensive set of reports that can be generated automatically in Microsoft Word®. This report can be generated in a fraction of the time required to manually prepare a report, and it includes all analysis details and attached "Description and Operation" (D&O) documents in a format that is suitable for submission to the Maintenance Review Board (MRB).

For aircraft systems and powerplant analysis, the software now also provides the option to create your own custom report templates that can be generated in either Word or Excel.

Flexible Tools to Facilitate Data Entry and Management

MPC has been designed to allow multiple users and/or groups of users to work cooperatively on their MGS-3 analyses. The software also facilitates the ability to reuse sections from other analyses, when applicable, by providing extensive import/export and copy/paste functionality. Some of the software's most useful features for data entry and management include:
