Check MSI Analysis

The Check MSI Analysis window compares the answers to the maintenance significant item (MSI) selection questions against the failure effect categorizations (FECs). If the analysis contains answers/categories that are incompatible, the utility provides a warning so that you can review the analysis and perform any updates that may be appropriate before you generate the print-ready report.

To open the Check MSI Analysis window, choose Systems > Tools > Check MSI Analysis or right-click an item in the System Hierarchy tab and choose Check MSI Analysis. This window can also be accessed right before you generate a report by clicking the Check MSI Analysis button in the MSI Report window.

The top panel allows you to specify which of the maintenance significant items (MSIs) in the project you want to check. (Remember that in order to be flagged as an MSI, the item must be at the lowest level in the hierarchy above any parts, and at least one of the equipment selection questions must be set to Yes.)

After you click Check, the bottom panel displays the analysis check results for the selected item(s). If desired, you can click the Copy Text button to copy the results to the Windows Clipboard so they can be pasted into another document.

Any of the following warnings may be reported:
