Introduction to the Synthesis Platform

MPC Features Overview

What's New in the Synthesis Version?

With the integration into the Synthesis Platform, MPC now offers a completely updated user interface that has many new and enhanced features. Some of the major additions and enhancements include:

Synthesis Platform for Multi-User Access and Intelligent Integration

MPC analyses are now stored in a centralized database that supports simultaneous access by multiple users and shares relevant reliability information between ReliaSoft's Synthesis applications.

Support for Structural and Zonal-L/HIRF Analyses (Plus Only)

With the purchase of an MPC Plus license, the software now supports MSG-3 aircraft structural analysis and zonal and lightning/high intensity radiation field (L/HIRF) analysis.

With the Structural Analysis module, you can define the Structures, Sub-Structures and Structural Items you wish to analyze, select the Structural Significant Items (SSIs), perform the Environmental Deterioration (ED) and Accidental Damage (AD) analysis, and then select the appropriate structural inspection tasks.

With the Zonal-L/HIRF Analysis module, you can define the Major Zones, Major Sub-Zones and Zones you wish to analyze, select which analysis is appropriate, perform the Standard Zonal, Enhanced Zonal and/or L/HIRF analysis, and then select the appropriate zonal inspection tasks. You also have the option to transfer "zonal candidate" tasks from the other analyzes, if applicable.

F-F-E-C Hierarchy is Easier to Use

You can now enter and use functional failure analysis data in the same user-friendly ways that you enter FMEA data in Xfmea/RCM++/RBI, including:

New Status Update Feature

In addition to the existing capabilities to "flag" certain portions of the analysis if desired (with green, yellow or red flags that are visible only in the analysis interface), we have added a flexible new Status Updates feature. For any hierarchy item, you now have the option to add one or many notes (associated with a particular working group, date and revision) that will be accessible with a click of the mouse.

Consistent Time Units for Task Intervals

You can now enter task intervals in consistent time units (e.g., flight hours, engine hours, etc.) rather than as plain text. This helps to achieve more consistent data entry and makes it easier to sort tasks by interval. It also makes it possible to import MPC systems and powerplant analysis items into Xfmea, RCM++ or RBI if desired.

More Flexibility for Task Type Abbreviations

You can now change the abbreviations used for the MSG-3 task types using the Task Types window.

Systems and Powerplant Analysis Logic Can Be Checked on Demand

You can now check the answers to the MSI selection questions against the failure effect categorizations (FECs) at any time using the Check MSI Analysis window. You no longer have to wait until you are generating a report before doing so!

Expanded Reporting Features

In addition to the standard template for MSI reports, the Sukhoi and Dassault templates are now available to all MPC users.

We have also added a new Custom Reports window that makes it easy to build and manage your own custom report templates using any of the data from a systems and powerplant analysis. For these reports, you have the option to generate in either Microsoft Word or Excel.

Default Response Manager

You can now use the new Default Response Manager window to quickly set the default answers for all of the failure effect categorization (FEC) questions and task selection questions at one time and in one place. You no longer have to individually manage each default response.

Restore Points

You can make an exact replica of a project as it exists at a particular point in time (i.e., a backup) that can be restored if and when it is needed. A restore point will include all data that the project contained at the time the restore point was created, including information about the project properties, security settings and project owner.

Enhanced, Easy-to-Use Interface with Internet Connectivity

All Synthesis applications offer a completely updated user interface with an "Office 2010" look and feel, and many usability enhancements. Some of the most useful include the ability to check in/check out portions of the analysis, "restore points" that allow you to restore or roll back to a previous stage in the analysis, and more flexible tools to organize and manage analysis projects.

Whenever possible, the new interface takes advantage of an active Internet connection to deliver the most up-to-date announcements, documentation and theoretical resources. For example:
