You can set the options for performing calculations in the spreadsheet by choosing Sheet > Format and View > More Settings > Calculation Options.
After you change any of these options, click OK to save the changes and then choose Sheet > Format and View > More Settings > Recalculate Formulas to recalculate the formulas within the spreadsheet based on the changes that have been made.
The available options are:
If you select Automatic Recalculation, the spreadsheet will automatically recalculate formulas when relevant values change in referenced recalculated data sources. If you clear this option, you must choose Sheet > Format and View > More Settings > Recalculate Formulas to recalculate the formulas and display the new results.
Note that in BlockSim, it takes time to recalculate the formulas. We recommend to keep this option cleared, and manually recalculate the formulas as needed.
If you select Minimal Recalculation, the spreadsheet will recalculate only the formulas containing references to a changed cell. This will prevent other cells from changing and displaying new results.
If you select Enable Iteration, the spreadsheet will calculate until it iterates the number of times specified in the Maximum Iterations field or until all cells change by less than the amount specified in the Maximum Change field. This can be used to solve circular references.
If you select Precision as Displayed, any cell values in the spreadsheet that use a custom number format (e.g., 0, 0.00, #, ##0, etc.) will be rounded to the same number of decimals that are displayed in the cell. The custom number format is set for each individual cell in the Custom Number window. Note that for values entered directly into the cell (i.e., not returned by a function), the original values cannot be restored after they have been rounded.
The behavior will differ based on the combination of options you select. For example, consider a simple scenario in which values entered directly into two cells are being added together:
If the cell uses the default number format (General)… |
If the cell uses a custom number format (e.g., 0.00)… |
The Precision as Displayed option has no effect:
