Previewing Before Printing

You can preview how an item will look on the printed page before printing it by clicking Preview in the Print window or by choosing Home > Print > Print Preview.

The toolbar in the Print Preview window contains icons that activate different commands:

Page Setup allows you to specify printing options using the Page Setup window.

Print sends the current document or sheet to the printer.

Single Page Layout displays one page in the preview area.

Double Page Layout displays two pages in the preview area.

Four Page Layout displays four pages in the preview area.

Nine Page Layout displays nine pages in the preview area.

If the item covers multiple pages, you can enter a number in the Current Page input box to view a specific page. For example, if you enter 2, then the second page of the item will appear in the preview area.

Depending on your screen resolution and screen size, the print preview may be missing details (e.g., lines in a diagram or small characters in a spreadsheet). However, these details will appear on the printout. The preview will display the correct positioning and location of the data on the printed page, as well as any objects. Please note that objects such as charts on a spreadsheet or workbooks will not be shown in full detail on the preview, but they will print correctly. The page orientation of the print preview depends upon the orientation selected on the first page of the Page Setup window, (i.e., portrait or landscape).

Print Layout

For diagrams in Weibull++, ALTA, BlockSim, RENO, Xfmea, RCM++ and RBI, the Print Layout option allows you to view how a diagram will appear on the printed page. The page orientation (i.e., portrait or landscape) of the print layout depends on the orientation selected in the Page Setup window. You can view the print layout by choosing Home > Print > Print Layout.

When this option is selected, the page boundaries for the diagram will be displayed. Everything within the boundary lines will appear on the printed page. You can use this to make any necessary adjustments before printing the diagram.

To exit the print layout mode, choose Home > Print > Print Layout.
