Xfmea supports both of the risk assessment methods that are commonly used in conjunction with FMEAs: Risk Priority Numbers (RPNs) and Criticality Analysis. The Risk Priority Numbers (RPNs) topic presents the software’s capabilities for calculating RPNs and related metrics. This section describes the support for criticality analysis patterned after the MIL-STD-1629A guidelines for FMECA.
In order to perform criticality analysis in Xfmea, you must:
Enable the criticality analysis fields for the project.
Create at least one item in the system hierarchy and create an FMEA in the Analysis panel.
As described previously, there are two types of criticality analysis:
The Qualitative Criticality Analysis topic describes the steps to perform the analysis based on rating scales.
The Quantitative Criticality Analysis topic describes the steps to perform the analysis based on calculations.
What's Changed? In previous versions of Xfmea, criticality analysis was performed with a dedicated Criticality Analysis window. In Version 8, the full criticality analysis worksheets are now visible only in the generated report documents. For quantitative analysis, use the FMRA to make the required inputs and perform the calculations. For qualitative analysis, you can make the required inputs in either the FMEA or the FMRA.
