Working in Synthesis

Two Database Types

Synthesis applications offer two types of databases for storing projects and analysis data. The type of database you choose will depend on the requirements of your organization.

Standard repositories (*.rsr9) are basic database files for single- or multi-user environments. Implementation of a database server is not required; however, there are limits on the amount of data and the number of simultaneous users.

Enterprise repositories (*.rserp) require implementation and support of Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server, but they are a more robust platform that can store much more analysis information in the same database and support access by many more simultaneous users. Synthesis applications are compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later and Oracle 10g or later (including the free Express editions of all of these).
