With the release of the Synthesis version, Lambda Predict offers a completely updated user interface that has many new and enhanced features. Some of the major additions and enhancements include:
Lambda Predict analyses are now stored in a centralized database that supports simultaneous access by multiple users and shares relevant reliability information between ReliaSoft’s Synthesis applications.
For multi-user access, you can use basic security groups predefined in the software or customize access permissions to meet the specific needs of your organization.
To give just one simple example of the many integration opportunities, you can now use failure rate data from your predictions to set the properties for a reliability block diagram in BlockSim, then automatically update the diagram if the underlying reliability prediction changes.
The Bellcore/Telcordia module now includes SR-332 Issue 3, which was released in 2011. This version of the prediction standard contains revised generic failure rates and includes several new devices.
Lambda Predict now supports the FIDES reliability prediction method, which was produced by a consortium of leading French international aeronautical and defense companies, under the supervision of the French Ministry of Defense. FIDES 2009 is the latest version of the FIDES methodology, and it provides failure rate models for electrical, electronic and electromagnetic components, as well as for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) board assemblies.
The Automatic Mapping feature (formerly called "Generate Import Mapping") has been improved in the Synthesis version. Non-matching properties are now displayed right within the template, allowing you to easily map those properties to the data fields supported by the software, or exclude them from the import process if desired.
We have also added the ability to use your BOM file to automatically update the properties of components that already exist in the prediction folio and append new data.
The use of published models in the Synthesis Platform makes it easier than ever to use your reliability predictions from Lambda Predict to build reliability block diagrams (RBDs) in BlockSim. If the analysis changes in Lambda Predict, simply republish the models to update the BlockSim analysis.
The new Highlights feature uses red, yellow and green background colors to make it easy to see how the component’s failure rate contributes to the overall failure rate calculated for the system or assembly. Simply turn the highlights on or off when needed while you’re working in any prediction folio.
Lambda Predict now offers the ability to configure security settings for custom library files, giving you greater control to determine which users will be able to modify these time-saving component libraries.
The Synthesis version also introduces the ability to automatically update the components in an existing prediction based on the latest properties in a selected custom library.
The Synthesis version offers a new tool that displays all the custom derating standards saved in the database, including information about the creation and last modification of each file. We've also eliminated extra steps in importing and exporting custom derating standards to streamline the process.
To help you quickly identify the components being analyzed, Lambda Predict now uses conventional electrical circuit diagram symbols to represent common electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, switches, etc.
Lambda Predict continues to offer the ability to quickly generate template-based reports for your predictions. You can choose any of the predefined report templates that are installed with the software, or create and manage your own templates to meet your specific needs. With the Synthesis version, the software now generates reports in both Microsoft Word and Excel, and you have the option to insert saved plots into any report template.
Like all Synthesis applications, Lambda Predict offers a completely updated user interface with an "Office 2010" look and feel, and many usability enhancements. Some of the most useful include the ability to check-in/check-out portions of the analysis, restore points that allow you to roll back to a previous stage in the analysis, and more flexible tools to organize and manage analysis projects.
Whenever possible, the new interface takes advantage of an active Internet connection to deliver the most up-to-date announcements, documentation and theoretical resources. For example:
The ReliaSoft Online panel provides up-to-date tips and announcements each time you start the application, and on demand when you need them.
The context-sensitive Reliability Web Notes panel automatically delivers theoretical background information for the feature you’re currently working with, including links to related examples, articles and other resources.
The Help Center provides quick access to a variety of support tools, including the ability to automatically download software updates, or to generate an e-mail with the details needed for technical support.
